Relating to the standard possession order and alternative possession times in a suit affecting the parent-child relationship.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3203 would permit a court to modify a standard child possession order to give a conservator possession of the child through Tuesday for weekend periods of possession if the Monday is a student holiday. It would also require a court in a child custody case, notwithstanding specific exceptions, to alter the beginning and ending times of a standard possession order to provide that the possessory conservator has access to the child if they live within 50 miles of the child's primary residence and have made the elections for certain alternative beginning and ending possession times. If enacted, the Attorney General's office would have to create informational material that describe different possession schedules and post them publicly on their website.
Texas Action is neutral on HB 3203 as it does not touch directly upon any of our Liberty Principles.
