Bill Caption

Relating to the preservation and maintenance of the Alamo by the General Land Office.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

HB 3013 would require the General Land Office to ensure that the displays and exhibits located on the grounds of the Alamo complex prominently feature the story of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, the history of the Texians and Tejanos who fought in the 1836 Battle of the Alamo, and the grievances to the Mexican federal government listed in the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The 1836 Battle of the Alamo is a seminal event in Texas and American history. The events that unfolded leading up to, during, and in the immediate aftermath of the battle invigorated the fighting spirit of Texans and ultimately led to victory in the fight for independence from Mexico. The story of liberty in Texas and the United States would be incomplete without a proper framing of the battle in context at the site where it occurred. Texas Action supports HB 3013.
