Relating to continuing education programs for fire detection and alarm device installation.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Under current law, participation in continuing education programs for fire detection and alarm device installation is voluntary for relevant licensed professionals. SB 2885 would allow the commissioner of insurance to require up to eight hours of continuing education for each license renewal period.
Texas Action opposes HB 2885 because it violates the limited government, free market, and individual liberty principles by increasing the cost of and barriers to license renewal for fire detection and alarm device installers.
