HB 2738 would repeal the opt out provision of the mandated uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. The bill would also require county mutual companies to mandate uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, which it is exempt from doing under current law.
Texas Action opposes HB 2738 because it violates the limited government and free market principles. The state should not repeal the ability of Texans to opt out of this insurance coverage.
