Bill Analysis

HB 2237 would modify existing law regarding lien rights related to mechanic's, contractor's, or materialman's liens. The bill would refine certain definitions and bring clarity to the process of securing a lien to ensure payment of a debt. The bill would modify certain notification requirements and adjust the timeframe in which a suit to foreclose a lien must be made.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While HB 2237 may bring some clarity to statute with respect to the lien process, there is not a clear connection to our liberty principles. Texas Action remains neutral on HB 2237.
