Relating to the applicability of certain limitations on the capture and use of biometric identifiers to financial institutions.
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 1977 would expand an existing exemption for certain financial institutions from state regulations regarding collection of voiceprints, to all forms of biometric identification, provided they are subject to federal regulation of biometric identification. In effect, this would allow any qualifying financial institution to capture and use biometric identifiers in order to provide improved account security measures for customers.
