Bill Analysis

HB 1492 authorizes a navigation district to respond to and fight an applicable fire, explosion, or hazardous material incident.

HB 1492 authorizes the district to acquire, purchase, lease, maintain, repair, and operate facilities and equipment for the purposes for protecting life and property during an emergency by detecting, responding to, and fighting the applicable fires, explosions, and hazardous material incidents.

HB 1492 would establish a schedule of rates, fees, charges, rules, and ordinance made available to the public through the districts internet website.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action is neutral in HB 1492. While it is a growth of government, it is the proper role of navigation districts to be prepared to respond to these emergencies under their authority.
