No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 1776 would allow schools to post founding documents of the United States in the classroom. This bill also requires high schools to offer an elective on the principles of the Founding Fathers.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports SB 1776 for uplifting our limited government and individual liberty principles. Civic education as a whole has greatly diminished among public schools and this bill would allow for the reintroduction of necessary curriculum. Under current law, individuals who are taking test to become a U.S. citizen include similar content. We support the idea of teaching students about the Founding Fathers.
