Bill Analysis

HB 888 would make it a Class B misdemeanor to knowingly misrepresent a child as a family member at a port of entry into the state. 

Vote Recommendation Notes

Texas Action supports HB 888 for promoting the principles of personal responsibility and limited government. A person should not gain entry to this state by crossing an international border illegally and misrepresenting a child as their own, or misrepresenting a child for the purposes of human trafficking.
