Relating to an exception from required disclosure under the public
information law for certain personal information obtained by
certain flood control districts.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
HB 3913 would exempt from disclosure under the public information act certain personal information obtained from flood victims by a flood control district in Harris County. The purpose of this legislation is to prevent people from obtaining personally identifying information and related contact information of flood victims for the purposes of aggressively marketing to those people.
Texas Action supports HB 3913 which protects property rights of flood victims in Harris County by preventing their personal information from being subject to public disclosure by a flood control district.
