HB 25 would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Task Force to establish a pilot program in at least one health care service region that allows for a managed transportation organization (MTO) that participates in the pilot program to provide medical transportation services to a woman who is enrolled in the STAR Medicaid managed care program during pregnancy and after she delivers, and to the woman's child who accompanies the woman.
This bill would require the MTO to provide medical transportation services in a manner that does not increase costs to Medicaid or HHSC; provide demand response transportation services; and ensure that the MTO and MCO through which the women receives health care services effectively share information and coordinate services. HHSC would submit a report to the legislature on the result of the pilot program and provide recommendations on whether the program should continue, expand, or terminate.
