Relating to the distribution to the Texas Racing Commission of certain money deducted from simulcast pari-mutuel pools.

Bill Analysis

Simulcast pari-mutuel betting is a type of gambling, mostly on horse racing and greyhound racing, that is legal in Texas. Under current statute, a percentage of the pool for each pari-mutuel pool is deducted and set aside for the state. This bill would specifically dedicate those funds to the Texas Racing Commission which is the regulatory body which oversees legal simulcast pari-mutuel gambling.
