Relating to the authority of an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant to sign a death certificate or out-of-hospital do-not-resuscitate order.

Fiscal Notes

From the LBB: no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

SB 919 would allow a physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse to sign a death certificate in certain circumstances.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill enhances our limited government principle by expanding the scope of practice for physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses in certain circumstances, thereby avoiding a potentially unnecessary delay in finding a person otherwise authorized to sign the certificate. We support SB 919.
