Bill Caption

Relating to the filing of oaths of office and signed statements by certain judicial officers and judicial appointees with the secretary of state.

Bill Analysis

If this bill passes, officers appointed by the supreme court, or to the court of criminal appeals, or the State Bar of Texas, and certain associate judges would be compelled to file their oath of office with the secretary of state.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While we take the oaths of public officials very seriously, this bill seems entirely procedural. SB 657 does not appear to have an impact on our liberty principles, therefore we will remain neutral.
