Bill Analysis
This bill would task the Office of Court Administration with conducting a study to evaluate how the terms juvenile, child, and minor are used throughout the code. The study would also attempt to determine whether the adjudication of juveniles charged with misdemeanors punishable by fine only is just and efficient when adjudicated through the adult criminal justice system.
Vote Recommendation Notes
Since the administration of justice is a legitimate function of government, the state has an obligation to determine if current polices are just and efficient. For this reason, we support SB 1836.
