Bill Caption

Relating to requiring public schools to provide information to certain students on the availability of financial assistance for postsecondary education.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

Under current law, it is required that high schools provide to students, each year of their attendance, information regarding the importance of university education, eligibility for financial aid, and programs to earn college credit in high school. HB 2537 would also require high schools to provide foster students currently or previously in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services information related to the availability of vouchers and tuition and fee waivers for postsecondary education.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Given that this bill merely requires that certain students be made aware of existing vouchers and fee waivers, this bill does not appear to have a connection to our liberty principles, therefore we remain neutral.
