Bill Analysis
SB 607 cleans up the statutory language on what agencies are represented on the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless. The majority of the changes come from the consolidation under the Health and Human Services Commission but other agencies were simply renamed. Each agency shall also contribute funds to the Council unless the agency certifies in writing that they are unable to provide funds during that fiscal period. Members who live 20 miles or more away may meet via teleconference or video conference and count towards a quorum.
Vote Recommendation Notes
While SB 607 doesn't explicitly align with our liberty principles, the bill clarifies what agencies are represented on the Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless after agency consolidation and renaming. The bill also takes the step forward in allowing teleconferencing or video conferencing for Council members who live further away, potentially saving more time and money for helping the homeless of Texas.
