Bill Caption
Relating to the imposition of the student centers fee at Texas Woman's University.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State or local government.
Bill Analysis
SB 596 would change the fee cap for Texas Women's University from $40 to $75. The bill further allows the fee to be increased up to $150 a semester if the increase is approved by a majority of students and if approved, the university may continue to charge that rate until retirement of any bonds used to improve the student union.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill would negatively impact the principle of limited government, therefore we oppose this legislation. It is ill-advised for government to be raising fees when the cost of tuition and fees is such a substantial burden on students already.
