Fiscal Notes
There is no fiscal note at this time.
Bill Analysis
SB 584 seeks to require the county clerk to maintain an alphabetical record of correction instruments and that this record must contain the names of the grantor and grantees. The bill also goes onto define "correction instrument" as an instrument the corrects an ambiguity or error in an original instrument of conveyance to transfer real property or an interest in real property.
Vote Recommendation Notes
SB 584 seeks to clean up filling and indexing confusion based on clerical errors. The bill only applies to non-material corrections in the instruments, such as misspelling a name. SB 584 would not increase the scope of governmental powers while promoting transparency at the county level.
