Bill Analysis

In 2013, the legislature authorized public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to create a school marshal program. SB 386 would amend the code to extend this authorization to public junior colleges.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 386 would affirm the principle of property rights, therefore we support this legislation.  This bill seeks to protect the most basic property right; life. In 2013, the legislature decided to provide an option for protecting students while they are in the care of a school, and this should be extended to public junior colleges as well.
