Bill Analysis

SB 161 would would require the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to conduct a study to examine the costs of educating students of limited English proficiency (LEP).  The bill would require TEA to submit a report of the results of the study to each standing legislative committee with primary jurisdiction over primary and secondary education by January 1, 2016.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill authorizes a study and has no discernible connection to the principles of liberty, therefore we are neutral on SB 161.
