Bill Analysis

SB 1324 seeks to allow privately owned and operated public swimming pools allow patrons to consume food or beverages while in the swimming pool.

Vote Recommendation Notes

SB 1324 would allow privately owned and operated swimming pools to operate swim up bars that serve guests who are still in the water. This bill allows private businesses to operate as they see fit without the unnecessary burden of regulatory penalties.

While the current regulations are generally not enforced, SB 1324 would protect these businesses from closure and penalties derived from a technicality. We support SB 1324 due to its protection of free markets from expansive government.

We also supported the House companion bill, HB 2430
