Bill Analysis

SB 1116 would amend Government Code to allow a court, justice, judge, magistrate, or clerk to send any notice or document using mail or electronic mail to an email address registered with the state electronic filing system or one provided by the person, instead of being restricted to non-electronic mail only.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The principle of limited government is bolstered by legislation that causes government processes to be more efficient. SB 1116 would achieve this goal by allowing updated delivery methods that are now common to society.
