Bill Analysis

This legislation calls for for an Article V Convention of the States to propose a constitutional amendment that would impose a balanced budget on the federal government.

Vote Recommendation Notes

Under Article V of the United States Constitution there is a mechanism for the states to call a convention for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution. This is a way for states to take the initiative to bypass Congress which has made little serious effort in years to bring forward and adopt amendments to the Constitution to further protect the people from the government. It would take two-thirds of the states to call for such a convention.

This is an opportunity for Texas to help lead our nation toward less government and greater liberty for the people. We support this resolution.
