Bill Analysis

HB 973 amends the Health and Safety Code to entitle an emergency services commissioner of an emergency services district in a county with more than 3 million people (Harris County) a per diem of $150 per day for the commissioner. There is a $7,200 yearly cap. The bill prohibits a commissioner who receives per diem compensation from being reimbursed for reasonable and necessary expenses.

Vote Recommendation Notes

05/19/2015 Update:

We remain neutral on HB 937 in the second chamber. The second chamber sponsor is Senator Garcia.

HB 937 is primarily a local bill and has no substantive fiscal implications for the state. Because it neither affirms nor abridges our liberty principles, we remain neutral.
