Bill Analysis

HB 685 would allow a public information officer of a governmental body to comply with applications for public information by emailing a URL for the information if its accessible online.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 685 would expedite responding to public information requests and allow the requestors to stay home instead of coming to visit the political subdivisions office. This bill would help increase government transparency and efficiency by allowing a public information officer to refer a requestor to the government entity's website that has the requested documents. We support HB 685.

The second chamber sponsor is Senator Hancock.
