Bill Caption
Relating to the eligibility of a person to be a candidate for or holder of a public elective office.
Fiscal Notes
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
This legislation would require a candidate running for public office in Texas to be a
registered voter.
Vote Recommendation Notes
We support this legislation under our personal responsibility principle. We tend to find it odd that someone would run for public office having never been (or are not currently) a registered voter. Casting a ballot is one of the most valued and important civic duties Texans have to our state and country. We support the requirement that all who seek public office in Texas be a registered voter.
