Bill Analysis

HB 440 would require that the public school physical education (PE) curriculum be adapted to accommodate the needs of students with mental disabilities.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This is an issue that school districts are perfectly qualified to evaluate on a case-by-case basis as needs arise at their own discretion so we are unconvinced that a state level mandate is necessary to address this issue. However, strictly speaking this bill neither affirms nor abridges our liberty principles. We remain neutral on HB 440.
