Bill Analysis
HB 3579 would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to decrease the
waiting periods for formal charging instruments to not be filed before a
petition for an expunction can be filed and makes clarifying changes.

Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill affirms the principle of limited government by clarifying the law to state that individual charges arising from an arrest can be eligible to be expunged, rather than not allowing any charges to be expunged because there is at least one charge that is not eligible.  For this reason, we support HB 3579.
