Bill Analysis

HB 326 would amend the chapter entitled “Search Warrants” within the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow information communicated by telephone or other reliable electronic means to determine whether to issue a search warrant. If the magistrate considers additional testimony, the testimony must be signed, certified, and accurately preserved.

Vote Recommendation Notes

HB 526 would modernize evidence collection to be more up-to-date with current technology trends. This bill has no impact on our liberty principles and we would prefer to remain neutral.
