Bill Analysis

HB 2825 would authorize the Texas Indigent Defense Commission to make a grant to an entity providing administrative services to one or more counties that have entered into an interlocal contract to provide indigent defense services.  The commission would be authorized to assist counties in creating and maintaining a computerized system to assist those counties in the provision of those services.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill affirms the principle of Limited Government, therefore we support this legislation. One aspect of the principle of Limited Government is supporting policies that promote more efficient governance. HB 2825, which we support, would do so by providing an easier method for counties that already collaborate together to provide indigent defense services and receive the appropriate funds to do so.
