Bill Analysis

This legislation would amend the Transportation Code to prohibit a toll project, authorized under Chapter 372, from stopping, detaining, or impounding a motor vehicle on a toll project's active traffic lanes unless the tolling service agreement addresses the action.

Vote Recommendation Notes

The fiscal note put it best: "The bill would amend the Transportation Code to prohibit a toll project, authorized under Chapter 372, from stopping, detaining, or impounding a motor vehicle on a toll project's active traffic lanes unless a tolling service agreement addresses the action."

We support this legislation for protecting property rights. This legislation restricts the conditions under which a vehicle can be detained or impounded on a privately operated toll road authority.
