Relating to the automatic admission of undergraduate students to The University of Texas at Austin.

There is no significant fiscal implication to the State or local government.

Bill Analysis

HB 2472 would repeal the Sunset provision for limited automatic admission to The University of Texas at Austin, which would allow limited automatic admission to the University of Texas at Austin to continue.

The original legislation authorizing the limited automatic admission was passed in 2009 and the sunset provision that this bill repeals would cause the automatic admission to expire in 2017.

Vote Recommendation Notes

While HB 2472 is administrative in nature and has no substantive connection to the principles of liberty, it is likely sound public policy. We remain neutral on HB 2472.

The second chamber sponsor is Senator Watson.
