Bill Caption
Relating to the services provided by a colonia self-help center.
Fiscal Notes
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Bill Analysis
HB 217 would seek to increase the self-help centers of colonias purposes
and services by adding language to "otherwise improve living conditions"
and provide services favoring those in the colonias.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill abridges the principle of limited government. This bill would hand out taxpayer-funded services that other economically disadvantaged people do not have. For this reason, we recommend voting no unless amending the bill so the only effect of the legislation is to update the reference to a section of code that no longer exists. That part of the bill is an administrative code update.
