No fiscal implication to the State.

Local Government

Bill Analysis

HB 2014 would amend Education Code to provide that if a current or former member of the United States armed services has satisfied the requirement for a license or other professional credential for a specific trade related to a career and technology education certification if he or she already has experience in the trade obtained through military service.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill reduces the burden of our teacher certification processes and programs by substituting U.S. military experience for certification to teach a related career-technical (aka. "vo-tech") class in a public school district. We support HB 2014 as an example of limited government.
