Bill Caption

Relating to the creation of a health care advocacy program for veterans.

Fiscal Notes

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Bill Analysis

The bill would establish a health care advocacy program for veterans through the Texas Veterans Commission, with the purpose of assisting veterans to get access to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care facilities.

Vote Recommendation Notes

There is scant supporting or dissenting evidence of the effectiveness of a program such as this. However, this will not cost additional resources, and will assist in expediting care for our veterans in need of VA care via the assistance of the Veterans Commission. This supports more efficient (hence, more limited) government. Based on what information we have, we are in support of this bill.
