HB 115 amends Government Code section 437.355a, to give the governor or adjutant general, if given the authority, to give out the Purple Heart to those members of the military injured or killed at Ft. Hood on November 5, 2009.
Vote Recommendation Notes
This bill is substantively the same as when we
reported on it in its original chamber. We continue to remain neutral.
The Secretary of the United States Army had worked with Texas Rep. John Carter to get the strict requirements for eligibility changed to be able to give victims of the Ft. Hood shooting this high honor.
The Senate sponsor is Senator Fraser.
