Bill Analysis

HB 1050 would amend Code to clarify that an individual donating food is not civilly or criminally liable if food is "apparently wholesome" at the time of donation.

Vote Recommendation Notes

This bill affirms the principle of limited government by protecting individuals who participate in charities from unwarranted liability and also affirms the principle of personal responsibility by encouraging individuals to take responsibility for the food that they respectively choose to consume. For these reasons, we support HB 1050.

The second chamber sponsor is Senator Van Taylor.
