Bill Analysis

Summary: Currently, the governing body of a county or municipality with a population of less than 10,000 needs a permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to dispose of waste from the demolition of an abandoned building. SB 819 would increase that population bracket to 12,000.

Analysis: SB 819 would make it easier for counties and municipalities to deal with these abandoned buildings and the waste that they accumulate and must be dealt with after being demolished. However, the bill does not address our liberty principles.
