Bill Analysis

Summary: SB 736 would prohibit insurance companies from using information obtained through a customer inquiry to raise a policyholder’s rates or to decline to renew the policy. Currently, insurance companies are not allowed to use that type of information to deny or cancel a policy.

Analysis: SB 736 would represent another mandate on insurance companies. The state should not mandate to a private company the type of information that it may use to make business decisions.
