Bill Analysis

Summary: Physicians have certain due process rights relating to complaints filed with the Texas Medical Board. One such right is that a physician under review by the board can request that a recording of the physician's informal settlement conference proceeding be made at the physician's expense.  Currently, however, the board is not required to release the recording to the physician. SB 380 requires this recording be released to the physician.

Analysis: We support SB 380 because it promotes the due process rights and individual liberty of physicians when they are dealing with complaints made against them before the Texas Medical Board.
