Summary: This legislation would continue the Texas Preservation Board through 2025. Additionally this bill would create a Governor's Mansion Renewal Trust Fund outside the Treasury which could be funded at the discretion of the Legislature or by accepting donations.
Analysis: Currently The State Preservation Board preserves, maintains, and restores the State Capitol and the General Land Office building. This bill would add the Governor's mansion to the buildings the board is responsible for and create a dedicated account to accomplish the job. The State Preservation Board is uniquely qualified to meet the task. The Legislative Budget Board estimates that additional costs can be absorbed within existing resources. This legislation neither uplifts nor offends our liberty principles. We are neutral on CSSB 201.
