Bill Analysis

Summary

Under current Local Government code, zoning commissions must notify property owners within 200 feet of any zoning changes they may be proposing and give notice of the public hearing that will be held on the subject at least 10 days before the hearing. HB 674 would require the zoning commission to also notify any school districts that have property in the area.

Analysis

HB 674 increases the transparency of a local government by ensuring all stakeholders are informed of any changes. For this reason, TPPA supports the legislation.
