Bill Analysis

Summary of Legislation: HB 3674 adds buildings that once served as county or municipal courthouses to be eligible for the Texas Historical Commission's Historic Courthouse Preservation Program.

Notes: This bill would allow for the further spending of state funds on county and municipal courthouse renovations or preservation. These preservation projects are a matter of local concern and would be better paid for out of local funds or private philanthropic contributions. We oppose HB 3674 due to the unnecessary addiitional spending it will lead to.
