Bill Analysis

Summary: Current law does not provide a time frame for a criminal proceeding to be resumed after a defendant has been found competent to stand trial after previously being considered incompetent. HB 3532 would provide a specific time frame to resume a criminal proceeding once a defendant is found competent.

Analysis: HB 3532 could possibly increase efficiency in the criminal justice system. This bill does not fall under any of our liberty principles, and we remain neutral.
