Bill Analysis

Summary: HB 3283 would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to notify the appropriate licensing board if, at the end of their investigation, that they have found a medical professional “materially involved” in a violation.

Analysis: The purpose of the renewal process is so that the state can ensure that the professionals are still competent at their jobs and/or have not experienced any issues that would cause problems in the future. If one of these professionals is found responsible for violations, that would be the type of information a licensing board needs to know to effectively do their job. While HB 3283 would represent good administration on the part of the DSHS, it does not address our liberty principles.
