Bill Analysis

Summary of Legislation: This legislation would direct The Department of Public Safety to establish a pilot program under which the department may designate driver education schools.  The department shall establish criteria, monitor participation, and conduct annual reports as to the effectiveness of the program. The pilot program would expire September 1, 2017. 

Notes: This bill, according to DPS, will aid in shortening wait times due to a stressing of their resources for driver school programs.  This bill would allow certain drivers-ed schools to administer official DPS tests.
