Bill Analysis

Summary: Under current law, a county or municipality may transfer funds from a criminal asset forfeiture account to general revenue to compensate an individual whose property was damaged due to a criminal pursuit. HB 1931 extends this authority to attorneys representing the State.

Analysis: This strengthens property rights by providing a greater opportunity for private citizens to be made whole if their property is damaged by law enforcement in the course of criminal pursuit. We support HB 1931.
