Bill Analysis

Summary: Each state political party has a State Executive Committee. The Committee is made up of two members from each senatorial district as well as a chair and vice chair. Currently, the Election Code requires that the chair and vice chair are different genders. HB 1866 removes that requirement.

Analysis: HB 1866 removes an arbitrary requirement from the election code and ensures that the spots are open to be filled by qualified individuals, with no special consideration based on gender. We support HB 1866.
