Bill Analysis

Summary: This legislation would require that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission waive the fee on a combination hunting and fishing license for non-resident qualified disabled veteran

Analysis: This bill adds non-resident disabled veterans to the list of qualified persons who are exempt from fees for obtaining combination hunting and fishing licenses. Texas generously exempts resident disabled veterans from many taxes and fees. This legislation would extend a fee exemption for non-resident disabled veterans. Texas taxpayers do not have responsibility to subsidize non-Texas citizens. This offends our limited government principle because it requires Texans to subsidize fees for non-Texans. We oppose this legislation.
